Develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a Course Evaluation form.

NRA Range Safety Officer Development Course

The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
NRA Range Safety Officers should be experienced shooters, involved in many aspects of target shooting, training and range supervision. The NRA encourages active shooters to learn more and become responsible for the safety of fellow shooters through this program. The course is open to anyone over the age of 16 (minors MUST be accompanied by a PAYING guardian enrolled in the class)

NOTE: A $100 deposit is required to reserve your spot in the class.

Some ranges we use require payment of park entry fees for non-member shooters. You are responsible for park entry fees. we recommend purchasing memberships at the range if you plan on being an avid shooter.
WHAT TO BRING:
1. A positive attitude and a desire to learn how to operate a handgun safely.
2. Eye and ear protection.
3. Ballistic/safety glasses and earplugs/earmuffs are required while on the range.
4. A handgun (pistol or revolver) in any caliber allowed at the range.
5. Ammunition. At least 100 rounds of brand new (non-reloaded) ammunition is required. Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) "range ammo" is required.
6. Cleaning supplies including a cleaning rod, jags, and bore-brush for your caliber, cleaning solution, gun oil and cleaning patches (synthetic or cotton). If you do not know what type of cleaning kit to buy, we have nice hard-sided, metal cased kits at a cost of $30 each. 7. A hat with a brim such as a baseball cap or similar.
8. Sack lunch (You may also go away for lunch - Several restaurants and markets are nearby).
9. A good attitude is essential.

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE:
Students will receive all course materials and course completion certificate, notepad and pens. Lunch will NOT be provided. Please bring a sack lunch or make alternate plans to go out. Regular breaks and a lunch break will be given.

All NRA classes taught through Stoneridge Tactical have been designed, built, and developed in accordance with the NRA, and NRA Law Enforcement Division Instructor training practices and guidelines by Stoneridge Tactical, David Cunningham, and Liz Cunningham, NRA Training Counselor, NRA Instructors, NRA LE Division Instructor, and NLEFIA Advanced Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.

You should be committed to attending as prepayments are nonrefundable and non transferable to another class. Live fire classes are not available to those women who are pregnant. If you prepay for these courses and cannot attend due to pregnancy, there are no refunds or transfers of any kind. If you or a person in your party cancels for any reason, they forfeit their deposit.
